SENIOR LIBRARIAN (HEW LEVEL 9) (BIOMEDICINE)
THE UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE LIBRARIES

READVERTISED

The University Library is seeking a senior librarian with a successful
record of achievement and relevant professional experience to manage and
coordinate Biomedical Library services.

The successful applicant will be responsible to the University Librarian
for the provision of library services to the Faculty of Medicine and
Health Sciences and the Department of Biological Sciences. Duties
include the planning, development and operation of specialised library
services to meet the needs of the innovative medical curriculum;
participation in the Faculty's self-directed learning programme;
responsibility for the Faculty's library materials allocation and the
selection and location of resources; provision of reference and
inter-library lending services.

The selection criteria for the position include:

ESSENTIAL:

. University degree and professional library qualifications.
. Appropriate professional experience at a senior level in an
academic or research library.
. Extensive knowledge of the Biomedical and Health Sciences
literature and the computerised information services relevant to
these areas, and demonstrable skills in the use of information
technology.
. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a
demonstrated ability to work under pressure.

SALARY

The salary range for the position is $44,158 p.a. - $52,018 p.a. A new
appointee would generally commence on the minimum step.

Compulsory contributory superannuation is a condition of employment.
