AF070: 60S acidic ribosomal protein

Pfam domains
PF00428: 60s Acidic ribosomal protein

Biochemical properties

The 60S acidic ribosomal protein plays an important role in the elongation step of protein synthesis. This family includes archaebacterial L12, and eukaryotic P0, P1 and P2 [1].

Allergological significance

Members of this family were described as fungal allergens. Alt a 12 from Alternaria alternata and Cla h 12 from Cladosporium herbarum are P1 proteins, while Alt a 5, Cla h 5 and Asp f 8 from Aspergillus fumigatus belong to the P2 family [2]. Autoimmune reacions to human P2 were also described [3].
