AF084: Barwin family

Pfam domains
PF00967: Barwin family

Biochemical properties

This family is also named pathogenesis-related proteins PR-4. Members of this family are barwin from barley seeds, win1 and win2 from tomato, and tobacco PR-4. Barwin-like proteins contain three conserved disulfide bonds [1] and are members of the double-psi beta-barrel superfamily [2]. Many family members contain an N-teminal hevein-like domain.

Allergological significance

Allergens from this family include the major latex allergen prohevein (Hev b 6.01) and Bra r 2 from turnip.
