In our Department several neurotransmitter transporters and receptors with important physiological and clinical function are investigated. We study their regional distribution, structure, pharmacology and function with the aim to increase our information on these important proteins and to find new therapies for various psychiatric and neurologic diseases. In addition, we are performing molecular genetic investigations on blood samples of patients suffering from depression, schizophrenia, or epilepsy, with the aim to identify gene mutations contributing to these diseases.
