The picture archives currently comprise around 40,000 individual items
including paintings, copperplate engravings, watercolours, drawings, photographs and colour prints.
These are supplemented by a collection of approximately 9,000 slides to illustrate lectures given to students and also to the
general public, as well as about 700 ektachromes primarily used in the publication
of high-quality illustrative plates.
