Erika Jensen-Jarolim, Univ. Prof. Dr., has become a member of the parity University Council of the Veterinary Medicine University of Vienna
On the 29th of January 2008, the Senate nominated Ms Erika Jensen-Jarolim, Univ. Prof. Dr., Head of the Institute of Pathophysiology of the Medical University of Vienna and a renowned researcher in the fields of immunology and pathophysiology, councillor of the University Council of the Veterinary Medicine University of Vienna.
Rector Schütz welcomes Jensen's nomination: "Prof. Jensen-Jarolim is perfect proof that the Medical University of Vienna boasts excellent representatives in science, research and teaching who enjoy a high reputation and therefore also provide recognition to the MUW. Prof. Erika Jensen-Jarolim, who was born in Vienna in 1960, studied at the Medical School of the University of Vienna, graduated in 1985, and habilitated herself in 1999 following a three year stay abroad. Until her appointment to the university professor's chair for pathophysiology at the MedUni Vienna in 2007, Prof. Jensen-Jarolim worked as a specialist in immunology and pathophysiology since the year 2000. She has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Great Central European Prize for Innovative Interdisciplinary Cancer Research and the ECARF Award for European Allergy Research (by the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation). Also the activities conducted by her research team have been recognised by a series of international awards. At present, Prof. Jensen-Jarolim is doing research into the reverse correlation between tumour diseases and allergies, thus setting up a new branch, the so-called "AllergoOncology". In addition, she is a special mentor for women in research to encourage the gender mainstreaming principle.
