Providing high quality education in order to provide students with a fundamental knowledge in forensic and legal sciences for their future careers is very important to us. Education must follow the principles of Johann Peter Frank that “no science should be taught merely through words and pictures, if the object of interest can be shown in nature and the intake of concepts can be facilitated through use of external senses”. This principle justifies the long and successful tradition of case demonstrations at the Department of Forensic Medicine in Vienna, which has prepared generations of students for their future careers since 1804.
