MIP versteht sich als ein multimodales und multidisziplinäres Netzwerk, das Kliniker, Forscher und Wissenschaftler der unterschiedlichsten Disziplinen an der MedUni Wien vereinigt um vorhandene Synergien zu optimieren. Das gemeinsame Interesse der MIP liegt in allen Aspekten der medizinischen Bildgebung, diese weiter zu entwickeln und unter Verwendung der funktionellen und molekularen Bildgebung biologische Systeme zu erforschen.

Auf der Tagung „Das Mammakarzinom: State of the Art“ der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Senologie und der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Chirurgische Onkologie vom 5.-8.Oktober in St. Wolfgang/Wolfgangsee wurden besondere Auszeichnungen an eine Forscherin der Medizinischen Universität Wien vergeben: Katja Pinker-Domenig von der Univ.-Klinik für Radiodiagnostik an der MedUni Wien wurde für hervorragende Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Bildgebung in der Mammadiagnostik mit dem Senologie-Publikationspreis 2011 ausgezeichnet. Ihre Arbeit „Conspicuity of breast cancer according to histopathological type and density when imaged by full-field digital mammography compared with screen-film mammography“, wurde im European Journal of Radiology, 2011 Jan;21(1):18-25. publiziert. Katja Pinker wurde zusätzlich mit dem Young Investigator Poster Award für ihre Arbeit „Molecular Imaging of breast tumours with PET-MRI: proof of concept“ ausgezeichnet.
(Wien 03-02-2011) Mit der Errichtung von „Core Facilities“ macht die Medizinische Universität Wien kostenintensive und hochspezialisierten Technologien für alle ForscherInnen an der MedUni Wien zugänglich. Im Rahmen einer Veranstaltung informierten Experten nun über die neu geschaffenen Möglichkeiten.
