AllergoOncology Group

Head: Prof. Erika Jensen-Jarolim, MD
erika.jensen-jarolim[at]meduniwien.ac.at

Our Mission in AllergoOncology: Did you ever have the impression that IgE immunoglobulins must have a natural beneficial function besides their nonsense function in allergy? Can we exploit it? Did you know that there might be an inverse clinical correlation between allergies and malignancies?

Our vision is to step by step answer these interesting questions. Besides multiple research efforts locally in FWF sponsored projects, we have established an international collaborative platform among the leading scientists in this field.

~~~
Prof. Erika Jensen-Jarolim, MD, was born on April 10, 1960 in Vienna, Austria. She holds today the chair of the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research within the Center of Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology of the Medical University Vienna.
As MD being specialized in pathophysiology and immunology, she is involved in trainings of residents and PhD students, and leading a research team consisting of 5 PostDocs, 6 PhD students, 2 Diploma students and 3 technical assistants. Her research is dedicated to the evaluation of pathophysiological mechanisms to improve therapy in allergy and malignancies, and she is especially well known for the concept of mimotope vaccines. Erika Jensen-Jarolim is member in numerous scientific societies, recipient of science and society awards, and reviewer of a great number of international journals and funds. Inventor of term AllergoOncology. Since 2008 she is member of the university councel of the Vienna Veterinary University due to her scientific and social interest in comparative medicine.
