I obtained my Master´s in Genetics at the the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin working on the generation of a mouse mutant library
by chemical mutagenesis.. 2003 I relocated to Vienna where I started my doctoral thesis in Prof
Gasche's lab. Since 2008 I work as a PostDoc in the Christian Doppler Laboratory with the focus on chemoprevention of gastrointestinal cancer.
My
current research projects involve the study of mechanisms
of inflammation driven carcinogenesis and
test chemopreventive drugs such as mesalazine in an in vitro co-culture
system using primary neutrophils and colon epithelial cells.
Furthermore I investigate the molecular mechanisms leading to
DNA damage and methylation as a consequence of inflammation (e.g. CIN, MIN, CIMP).
