My background is in internal medicine, particularly gastroenterology and hepatology, where I specialized in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) and mucosal immunology. In recent years my research interests have focused on molecular aspects of IBDs and their connection with colorectal cancer.

Currently, the research in my lab centers on the understanding of these diseases, and in particular the action of cytokines in inflammation, the role of genetic instability in carcinogenesis, and the mechanisms of cancer chemopreventive drugs.
