Annually 35.000 Austrians develop cancer. Because of improved diagnostic methods and therapies a high number of these patients do have a good chance of healing.
However, this progress requires intensive efforts in all fields, particulary in basic research.
Since its foundation the Institute of Cancer Research is contributing top level findings to Cancer Research - however, this needs a lot of money!
In recent years public financial support for Cancer Research did not rise. Therefore the Institute of Cancer Research is depending on fundraising and donation by the general public.
