Research Goals

The research projects of members of this unit are in the field of experimental as well as applied oncology with focus on genetic polymorphism as biomarkers for individual cancer risk and consequently strategies for cancer prevention including phytochemicals as proposed antioxidants and thus anticarcinogenic compounds. Another goal is the identification of molecules involved in the process of angiogenesis for the development of targeted therapy.

In the field of tumour immunology a long standing experience and expertise aims at identifying anticancer immunological defence mechanism, the immune function of cancer patients as well as immune therapy of malignant diseases. Finally within a major EU funded project the role of peptides in pathomechanisms and therapy of primary pulmonary hypertension is investiagted.
