A 16 year-old patient came to us with a fracture in the right mandibular body and a fracture in the left mandibular ramus.

Clinically, the patient showed a disturbed occlusion (picture 1), and pain when biting. The fractures can be seen very well in the x-ray (picture 2).

Surgery:

The fracture of the mandibular body was treated with an absorbable plate. The mandibular ramus, which was not displaced, was immobilized by tying the mandible and the maxilla up (=maxilla-mandible-fixation) over a period of three weeks (picture 3). The situation during the operation (picture 4), and one year after surgery.

After the release of the patient, he was treated by the specialized outpatient department for traumatology.
