Course History
FEBS Course Evaluation Statistics
This short statistics is based on FEBS Course Evaluation Questionnaires completed
by participants at the venue. A total of 207 (86.3 %) out of 240 were returned by participants.
The questionnaires were grouped into four sections. Plenary Lecturers and members of the
Scientific Advisory Board represented the first section. Participants with either
Ph.D. or M.D. as the highest degree were placed in section two. All students
were put into section three. Unspecified questionnaires comprised section four. For the
mean average, another section was created as the sum of sections one to four.
Questions could be answered in four possible ways, such as: excellent,
good, adequate and poor.
In cases were no answers were given, the statistics tables have an additional row marked "no comment".
Taken together, we can proudly say that the overwhelming majority of all
participants thought that ABC99 was a great success. We are very happy about that, because
that is exactly what we wanted, and that is why we were doing it. However, we also take all
constructive criticism very serious! Thus, should there ever be another event, we will not
be shy of any effort to make it even better (particularly making sure that desserts are not
running out!!!).
All details and the data can be viewed on the ABC99 evaluation page.
Quotes and Comments on the Course
Probably one of the very best conferences I have attended in the last 10 years.
This course was organized extremely well-perhaps better than any other meeting of this type
I have attended. It was easy to see that a lot of hard work occurred before and during the conference.
I had the impression that Karl and Friederike thought about each participant, almost individually.
I am very impressed.
I have greatly appreciated the great flexibility in the organization, showing that everything was perfect.
The organizing team did a superb job here, and coped with all kinds of minor technical hitches with no problem.
Thanks to the organizers, did a very good job.
Fantastic course, unique in it's suitability for researchers in the same field (ABC genes).
Once again the organizers have assembled an excellent program covering an impressive number of proteins from animals,
plants and prokaryotes. Congratulation.
Really well organized, excellent support provided by "team". Access to e-mail, fax, printer really appreciated.

Web Contributions
As a first step into the direction of an 'All ABC-Web Page' suggested
by Rando Allikmets, we would like to point out two Web-sites.
In addition, a list of documents recommended by our course participants is presented.
If you want your personal site to be listed here, please get in touch.
