Gosau is located south of Salzburg about 1 hour driving distance by car.
Travelers driving to Gosau by car should leave the Salzburg - Vienna freeway A1 (Westautobahn) at the exit Regau, at about half distance between Salzburg and Linz. Headed south on highway B145 (Salzkammergut Bundesstraße), you will pass Gmunden, Ebensee, Bad Ischl and Bad Goisern. Branching off south of Bad Goisern, highway B166 (Paß Gschütt Bundesstraße) brings you directly to Gosau.
Driving on a mountain highway, Gosau can be reached leaving the Salzburg - Villach freeway A10 (Tauernautobahn) at exit Golling about 30 km south of Salzburg. Headed east on highway B162 (Lammertal Bundesstraße) you will pass Abtenau. Still heading in eastern direction on highway B166 (Paß Gschütt Bundesstraße) you will reach Rußbach before the road winds up the mountain to pass "Gschütt". At this point Gosau lies just down the hill.
Let us know if you need more precise directions.
More importantly, please do not drive if you are inexperienced in driving
on icy and snowy mountain roads.
There are flights from every major european airport to Salzburg. Detailed flight schedules for arrival and departure at the Salzburg Airport will facilitate planning your travel. European train schedules are provided by Österreichische Bundesbahn, Deutsche Bahn AG and Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
We will offer shuttle transportation service from Salzburg Airport as well as "Salzburg Hbf" train station to the venue. The costs are included in the registration fee. Schedule and pick-up locations for the shuttle busses will be announced on the net.
An attractive social programme for participants and accompanying persons is available. We will visit Salzburg and the ancient town of Hallstatt, both of which have been named "world cultural heritage". Finally, weather permitting, one can explore one of the biggest ice caves in the central European Alps the Koppenbrüllerhöhle or just enjoy winter in Austria.
