Welcome at the
Section of Biosimulation
and Bioinformatics
The section pursues three major fields of activities:
|
|
All research activities are primarily
related to objectives within the biosciences, aiming at the improvement of
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. In many cases we cooperate with groups
from the (bio)medical sciences at the Medical University of Vienna. Such cooperations often
promote innovations in the field of computer science with considerable and
significant impact in biomedicine.
|
|
- Research/Education-IT
(application support)
|
| Researchers and academic teachers may need technical support when using
highly complex IT-tools. We provide consulting, implementation, data interfaces,
or instruction. With the implementation of AKIM, the field of technical cooperation
in research is expected to increase significantly. |

|
|
For students at the Medical University,
MSIIS offers basic courses in medical informatics particularly with regard
to their future medical occupation. Moreover, courses address students from
other universities (mostly from technical or natural sciences) and introduce
them into topics and projects of the Medical University. A considerable portion
of medical engineers in research projects at the Medical University is recruited
from these students.
