Am Austrian Grid Project ist das Institut mit zwei Beiträgen beteiligt:

Virtual Arterial Tree Tomography

Arterial trees often appear in 2D-sections, e.g. in tomography or microsopy. In most cases it is not evident how conclusions from these 2D-pictures can be inferred towards the steric 3D configuration of vascular segments.
In the present project we go the opposite direction: Realistic Models of 3D vascular trees are generated and virtually sliced. The resulting 2D images hold every information possible (since they are computed images) and clearly demonstrate what 2D-image will result from a given (and precisely known) 3D vascular structure.
Well established algorithms for the analysis of 2D slices of vascular trees can then be tested regarding their capability to regain what has been plugged in.....
