Virtual Arterial Tree Tomography
Arterial
trees often appear in 2D-sections, e.g. in tomography or
microsopy. In most cases it is not evident how conclusions
from these 2D-pictures can be inferred towards the steric
3D configuration of vascular segments.
In the present project we go the opposite direction: Realistic
Models of 3D vascular trees are generated and virtually
sliced. The resulting 2D images hold every information possible
(since they are computed images) and clearly demonstrate
what 2D-image will result from a given (and precisely known)
3D vascular structure.
Well established algorithms for the analysis of 2D slices
of vascular trees can then be tested regarding their capability
to regain what has been plugged in.....
