Our laboratory is part of the Institute of Pharmacology, Center for Physiology and Pharmacology (Head: Prof. Michael Freissmuth) at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria.
research interests are (1)
Molecular Pharmacology in particular
(i) immunosuppressive cyclic plant peptides: in vitro signaling und preclinical applications and (ii) protein-protein interaction of GPCRs and other transmembrane receptors, (2) Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery in particular
(i) bioactive peptides from nature: isolation, analysis and pharmacological activity, and (ii) neuropeptides from invertebrates: ligand-receptor evolution and functional characterization, and (3) Peptidomics in particular the discovery and characterization of bioactive peptides from nature using mass spectrometry.
Besides applying basic biochemical and pharmacological research techniques, we host the MS core facility of the Center for Physiology and Pharmacology and provide Proteomics and Peptidomics analysis for in-house collaborators and external research partners.
