SEVENTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME

Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Experienced Researcher (< 5 years experience)

AstraZeneca Ltd, Macclesfield, UK

Project 1 - Resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy in renal tumors (Supervisor: Dr Juliane M Jürgensmeier)

This project will evaluate the responses of preclinical in vivo tumor models to AstraZeneca VEGF signaling inhibitors. The ER will correlate characterize their effects on the intensity and phenotypic characteristics of macrophage and DC infiltrate and the cytokine expression within the tumor. These studies will be used to identify tumor characteristics that correlate with drug responsiveness or resistance that can then be tested in the clinical samples to determine whether they are effective biomarkers.
Methodology: The project will use a range of preclinical tumor models. Factors of sensitivity and resistance will be evaluated by ELISA methodology and immunohistochemistry.
Attachments/Collaborations:
(1) Immunohistochemistry on clinical samples will be performed in collaboration with P1- MUW;
(2). P-3 LUMC: Analysis of differential macrophage activation.
