Registration & Requirements

General Information
  • Students from Vienna and surroundings (MedUni Vienna, SFU, KLU) can only register in person during Consultation hours (Sprechstunden).
  • Students from other universities register via e-mail.
Application via E-Mail:
  • E-Mail text: Keep it short. State your home university, the desired clinic/department, and the desired period.
  • In the attachment: Confirmation of enrollment to your home university (aka proof of enrollment or entrollment certificate)
Do not send anything else. Unsolicited documents will not be considered.

Students from Abroad

Admission exclusively via ERASMUS+ SMT.

  • The minimum duration for an ERASMUS stay is 2 months. You can stay in one department for a maximum of 8 weeks and then have to move on to another department.
  • Applications for clerkships that last less than 2 months will also be accepted. However, you then would have to arrange another clerkship at any other department different from the departments listed below.
  • An example: Your first clinical elective here in Vienna begins on 3 April. Accordingly, the last clinical elective must not end before 2 June.
  • Deadlines for the registration of ERASMUS stays:
6 weeks before the start of the stay but
at the latest on 15 February for stays beginning between 1 April and 31 July and
at the latest on 15 September for stays beginning between 1 November and 31 January.

Important: Every student requires a fully completed Immunization Record (1 month before start).

Notes

Students from universities other than the Medical University of Vienna who are in their final year of studies and whose final year corresponds to the equivalent of a clinical elective (KPJ, elective year, practical year, PJ, Wahlstudienjahr etc.) must also complete a clinical elective rotation here. Clerkships cannot be credited as part of the clinical elective (or equivalent).

Please note that re-dating the clerkship confirmation is a violation of existing laws and is therefore not possible. Furthermore, clerkships (see above) begin exclusively on the indicated days and last two, four, or six weeks. This regulation applies without exception to all students.

Clerkships at the MedUni Vienna always comprise an even number of weeks, begin on the first working day of the week and end on the last. 15- or 30-day clerkships are only possible within the framework of a 4- or 6-week clerkship.
