Biography

Dr. Kirnbauer graduated from the Medical University Vienna in 1983 (M.D.), specialized in General Medicine, partly in Anesthesiology, and finally in Dermatology at the Medical School in Vienna. He then joined the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology (chief: Dr. Doug Lowy) at the National Cancer Institute (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA) as a postdoctoral research fellow from 1991 to 1993. In 1994 he became chief of the Laboratory of Viral Oncology, and in 1995 staff member (Assoc. Professor of Dermatology) at the DIAID (chief: o.Univ.-Prof.Dr. Georg Stingl), Department of Dermatology.
