Judith Leitner "Reseacher of the Month"

The jury "Researcher of the Month" elected Judith Leitner for her publication "TIM -3 does not act as a receptor for galectin -9" published in the top journal "PLoS Pathogens" (impact factor 9.1) to the “Researcher of the Month" October 2013.

The publication was accrued in the group of Peter Steinberger (Institute of Immunology, Center for Pathophysiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases (Head: . Prof. Dr. Hannes Stockinger ) in close collaboration with Assistant Professor Dr. Katharina Grabmeier-Pfistershammer ( Division of Immunology, Allergy and Infectious skin diseases).

To her person
After training as a biomedical analyst at AKH Linz ( 2000) and several years of professional practice in an international pharmaceutical company Judith Leitner began the study of molecular biology at the University of Vienna. She has written her diploma thesis (2005-2006) and her dissertation (2006-2011) at the Institute of Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna, where she worked as a postdoctoral fellow since 2011. For her scientific work, she has received several awards and honors including a DocForte scholarship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (2009-2010), the Dissertation Award of the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology ( 2011) and Theodor Körner Prize ( 2012).
