Social medicine deals with the interaction of social conditions, health and disease, and is also known as the science of and for health policy.
Social medicine and its application (Public Health) uses epidemiology (public health intelligence service) as an information source and converts the findings of epidemiology into public health programs to make a contribution to promote health of the public.
In this context social medicine has a "staff function", which supports and evaluates the “line functions” (prevention, early detection, treatment and care).
