Alexander Bartelt is the Professor of Cardiovascular Metabolism at the Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Hospital Munich. His research is dedicated to understanding the basic principles of metabolism and related disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Alexander is a biochemist, received his PhD from University of Hamburg with honors, and performed his postdoctoral training at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, USA. His work is supported by the German Research Foundation DFG, the German Center for Cardiovascular Research DZHK, and the European Research Council ERC. Alexander’s work has been recognized by numerous national and international awards and distinctions. He serves as the Chairman of the European Lipoprotein Club of the European Atherosclerosis Society and enjoys science communication.
