How Dead is Dead Conference IV

21 – 22 May 2015 in Dübendorf/Zürich, Switzerland

The How Dead Is Dead (HDID) conference series is dealing with bacterial life at its boundaries. When can we say that a bacterial cell is dead and how can we measure that? Cells may be dormant and physiological and metabolic processes may be shut down to a level that is below any detectability. Can such cells be “resuscitated”?

Which mechanisms are involved in their survival and eventual proliferation? Such questions and more will be discussed intensively during the upcoming 4th edition of the HDID conference series that will take place in Dübendorf/Zürich, Switzerland, from May 21 – 22, 2015.

Alexander Kirschner was invited to be a member of the organizing committee of the conference, hosted by Frederik Hammes from the EAWAG, Zürich.
