Research focus: Acute coronary syndrome, acute and chronic heart failure, cardiac arrest, cardiac arrest centers, cardiogenic shock, emergency extracorporeal life support (EECLS), extracorporeal circulation, postresuscitation care
In an multi - disciplinary project (Dept. of Clinical Pharmacology, Dept. of Neurosurgery, Dept. of Internal Medicine III, Center for Biomedical Research, University of Veterinary Medicine of Vienna and Dept. of Emergency Medicine oft he Medical University of Vienna) we managed to finalize a science project comprising extracorporeal life support in cardiac arrest and the use of peripheral and central microdialysis in a rodent model. The results of this project have been published in several international, peer reviewed journals. Furthermore - together with the team of the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Medical University of Vienna and in coopration with the Department of clinical pharmacology a prospective evaluation of the post resuscitation SIRS and the effects on blood coagulation is currently undergone.
