As the pandemic of COVID-19 affects each of our lives, our scientific work, our research, we come together as a Community to tackle these challenges on both the societal and research levels. We view the current situation as an opportunity to think, learn, re-think the research accents and to develop efficient ways to scientific discoveries towards understanding the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

We have a strong interest in identification and characterization of novel pathways and targets contributing to the pathophysiological conditions; disease areas cover inflammation, aberrant immunity, and cancer. Particular focus is given to establishment of gene-/pathway-/disease-relevant multigene signatures or assembling of other features for prediction of biological outcomes under diseased conditions as important step towards patient-orientated personalized aspect in medical care. We use systems biology-based integrative strategy, which covers the levels of the biological hierarchy from molecules to functional gene network(s) and biological pathways, and further to the pathobiology of diseases and the clinical relevance. This novel approach needs rational complementation of diverse disciplines and expertizes.
