OGMBT/Eppendorf Biotechnology and Applied Science Research Award 2015
Daniela Gallerano from the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research, Medical University of Vienna, was awarded the “ÖGMBT/Eppendorf Biotechnology and Applied Science Research Award” for her first-authorship article entitled “HIV microarray for the mapping and characterization of HIV-specific antibody responses” published on the Journal Lab on a Chip Mar 21;15(6):1574-89.
The Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ÖGMBT) awards every year the best research studies carried out in Austria in the field of biotechnology and applied research.
The awarded work describes the development an HIV microarray for multiplexed analyses of HIV-specific antibodies towards a vast panel of HIV-components. The innovative immunoassay is based on the microarray technology that was well established at the Medical University of Vienna for the diagnosis of IgE mediated allergies. The study opens now the way to the testing of large patient cohorts and the identification of HIV-specific antibody signatures.
