The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) funds Enikö Kallay’s project “Loss of the calcium-sensing receptor in colorectal tumourigenesis: a major event or a collateral damage?”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enikö Kállay, head of the Tumourpatology group, received funding from the FWF to study the role of the extracellular calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) in colorectal tumourigenesis.
The aim of this 4 years project is to assess whether the CaSR is able to reduce the tumourigenicity and metastatic potential of colon cancer cells in vivo. This proposal will show, whether inadequate CaSR level confer growth advantage to cancerous cells, revealing one possible mechanism that links calcium to intestinal cancer development.
