Passivrauchen: Acrolein hemmt Immunabwehr und kurbelt so Tumorwachstum an.

Allein in Österreich sterben zwei bis drei Personen täglich als Folge des Passivrauchens. Acrolein aus dem Seitenstromrauch hat nun Franziska Roth-Walter aus der Arbeitsgruppe Erika Jensen-Jarolim als Verursacher des Versagens der Immunabwehr gegen Tumoren durch Passivrauchen erstmals identifiziert: Es stimuliert nämlich die T-regulatorischen Zellen über den Arylhadrocarbon-Rezeptor.
