Molecular mechanisms of immune cell development and function

    Abstract

We are highly interested in dissecting the interactions of allergens and their ligands with epithelial and dendritic cells.
In this context we study the molecular properties of an array of allergenic proteins and their sensitizing and symptom inducing capacities.
We also focus on the clinical consequences of immunoglobulin E cross-reactivity in order to develop new reagents for diagnosis and treatment of allergy.

Within the field of tumor immunology, we focus on experimental therapeutic strategies involving combinations of mimotope-induced monoclonal antibodies and established chemotherapeutic agents.
We are also involved in a cooperation for the development of an infrared sensor technology to distinguish between normal tissue and melanoma cells.
Our research on traditional Chinese herbal medicine aims to evaluate the mode of action of traditional herbal remedies using in vitro methods and animal models.
