Immunoinformatics: Molecular dynamics to detect mechanisms of immunorecognition and T-cell-activation

Abstract

Our long-term research interest is to model molecular mechanisms involved in antigen recognition by T cells. One branch of research is molecular dynamics of TCR / pMHC – complexes, including refined statistical analyses of molecular motions at single atom resolution.
In addition, interfaces between ligands are characterized regarding variations in force-fields as a potential substrate of signal transduction. Another branch investigates collective phenomena of TCRs, like immunological synapses and their relation to inhomogeneity in cellular lipid bilayers.
Cooperative mechanisms of TCRs are scrutinized with regard to their potential to enable the ROC of antigen recognition.
