There are three types of lectures in the “MolSignTrans” PhD program:
- Basic courses
- Journal Clubs
- Thesis Seminars
A list of the various lectures offered in the winter and summer semesters for the “MolSignTrans” PhD program can be found in the MedCampus System
Online registration via the MedCampus System is a prerequisite for successful participation in all lectures and courses!
Brief description of the various lectures:
1) Basic Courses:
Interdisciplinary interactive cycle of courses discussing the respective program topic in its full length.
Basic Lecture (BVO): held each summer semester; written exam (single/multiple choice test) at the end of the semester; regular attendance is mandatory (and strongly recommended in order to be able to pass the exam)!
Basic Seminar (BSE): held each winter semester in the first week of December; attendance is mandatory and will be checked!
important: the subject matters taught in the BSE are part of the doctoral viva examination!
2) Journal Clubs (JCs):
recent scientific articles are analysed and discussed:
→ aim at the acquisition of critical evaluation and discussion of scientific literature
3) Thesis seminars (TSs):
courses dealing with specific aspects of the program topic and specific methodology
TS “Applied experimental pharmacology” (860.999):
held in summer and winter semesters; mandatory for all PhD students of the Institute of Pharmacology and the Department of Neuro- physiology and –pharmacology (Center for Physiology and Pharmacology)!
In this Thesis seminar, not only participation, but also active contribution of the doctoral students is mandatory, and both will be registered. Accordingly, the documented absence of three seminars and/or the failure of giving a presentation will preclude the successful completion of this seminar.
