To enter a doctoral program as a student, it is necessary to find a » faculty member, who offers to supervise a » thesis project, and to apply for » admission. The next step is the » registration of the thesis project, which follows within the first semester. The elaboration of the thesis project is the predominant effort in the doctoral program and results in the compilation of the doctoral thesis. Research work is accompanied by » lectures and courses, which are to provide broad basic knowledge in endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition. This includes » Propedeutics and » Basic Lectures, as well as seminars for interaction between the students enroled in the programs. The latter include » Journal Club and » Thesis Seminar, in which scientific results arising from the literature and from the projects of the participating students are critically discussed. For students of the Doctoral Program of Applied Medical Science (N790), a » Practical Seminar is also obligatory. Once a year, a » PhD-Symposium organised by the YSA gives students the opportunity to present their work to a larger audience.
