An appendant Journal Club is offered in the thematic program of Endocrinology, which is traditionally held in conjunction with the » Thesis Seminar on Thursday afternoon (16.15 h, Seminar Room, Red Tower, 20th Floor). Deadlines for registration via MedCampus are usually end of September and end of February.
In the Journal Club, students present topical scientific articles selected from current literature and suited for this occasion. A » guide for presentations is available. The aim of Journal Club and Thesis Seminar is to bring together students enrolled in the programs, and to provide them with training for scientific presentations as well as with insight into the broad variety of studies and topics that arise within the fields of endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition. To gain credits for the Journal Club, it is obligatory to attend the courses and to deliver the scheduled presentations (usually one paper presentation for each student per semester).
As indicated in the » course table, it is mandatory to collect a total of twelve semester hours of Journal Clubs in the doctoral programs. It is obligatory to complete eight of the twelve required semester hours in the Journal Club of the Endocrinology program (equivalent to participation during at least four semesters). The remaining four hours of Journal Clubs can be also collected in the Journal Club appendant to the program or, alternatively, by participation in appropriate Journal Clubs offered elsewhere.
