The topic of the master's thesis should be chosen from one of the topics out of the course curriculm.
The topic has to be selected together with one of the course teachers and has to be approved by the leader of the course. The thesis is an independent work performed bx each student on his/her own. Students can work jointly on a topic - but the work of each student must be done seperately and be able to be judged seperately.
The master's thesis should prove the ability of the student to use methodological skills for scientific problem solving using theoretical knowledge. Each student gets a supervisor who guides him/he during the work and judges the thesis at the end.
The students can choose the thesis supervisor from among the theachers of the course. The choice need to be confirmed by the course leader.
The thesis has to be provided in 2 copies, the date of submission has to be documented. For judgement a grading scale of 1 to 5 will be used. If the master's thesis ist not judged positivly §17a Abs 12 of the II selection of the charter of the Medical University of Vienna is applied.
Defense of the master's thesis
The master's thesis has to be presented orally to the commission during the final exam.
Preconditions of the defence are:
- Minimum of 85% attendance of the modules of the curriculum of the master's course. Should the student drop below 85%, the course leader will decide on an individual basis, if the student can continue or needs to repeat modules.
