Julia Balog
Dr. Julia Balog is a Senior Research Scientist at the Waters Research Center in Budapest.
Dr. Balog studied Biology (molecular cell and neurobiology) in Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest, and completed her PhD in 2013. She also studied Computer Science and Mathematics and completed her MSc in 2009.  She worked at Medimass in Budapest under the supervision of Prof. Zoltan Takats and there the first REIMS setup was built and, eventually, the first surgical procedure involving REIMS was performed in 2010 in Debrecen, Hungary.  Dr. Balog followed Prof. Takats to Imperial College London, and from 2013-2015 she worked within his group in London as a postdoc and coordinated the iKnife team.
In 2014 Waters Corporation acquired the technology from Medimass, and in 2015 Dr. Balog moved back to Budapest to continue working on REIMS for Waters. Since then Waters closely work together with a number of research groups to improve the technology and its use on multiple applications.
