DESCRIPTION:The indication for biological aortic valve replacement is widel
 y accepted for patients over 60 years of age worldwide. For younger patien
 ts\, mechanical valve replacement is recommended despite the associated ch
 allenges and risks. Therefore\, the Ross-Procedure (Ross\, 1967) represent
 s an excellent alternative for young patients with irreparable aortic valv
 e disease. In the Ross-Procedure\, the aortic valve is replaced with an au
 tograft of the pulmonary valve\, and\, consecutively\, the pulmonary valve
  is replaced with a homograft. Due to excellent long-term results\, this t
 echnique is gaining increasing popularity.\n\nAs part of the “Masters in
  Cardiovascular Surgery” series\, the course “The Ross-Procedure” of
 fers cardiac surgeons a comprehensive workshop on this excellent but compl
 ex surgical technique. The theoretical part discusses indications\, techni
 ques\, and pitfalls. The practical part includes three intensive wet-lab s
 essions on human cadaver hearts. All tutors are experienced cardiac surgeo
 ns who provide participants with individual feedback and numerous tips.\n\
