Vienna Medical Association Theodor Billroth Prize awarded to MedUni Vienna researchers

(Vienna, 19 December 2017) This year, Vienna Medical Association's Theodor Billroth Prize went to three researchers from MedUni Vienna: Andreas Kammerlander, Lorenz Küssel and Stefan Salminger. The research promotion prize funded by the First Bank of Austria likewise went to three MedUni Vienna researchers: Johannes Gojo, Matthias Zimmermann and Maria Haller.

About the Vienna Medical Association Theodor Billroth prize
Vienna Medical Association awards its Theodor Billroth Prize to fund scientific work. The Theodor Billroth Prize is awarded annually and is worth €7,500. It can be divided between a maximum of three people. All members of Vienna Medical Association can apply for this funding award. Since Vienna Medical Association's Theodor Billroth Prize is intended to promote young scientists and also to fund research activities in private practice, heads of departments, divisions and institutes are excluded from the competition (except as co-authors).

The Erste Bank der Österreichischen Sparkassen AG awards the First Bank of Austria Research Funding Prize to fund research activities by doctors in Vienna. This prize is awarded on an annual basis and is worth €7,500. It can be divided between a maximum of three people. All doctors working within the Vienna region can apply for this funding award. This also applies to qualified doctors who are not members of the Medical Association.
