The European Clinical Research Infrastructures Network (ECRIN) has been established in 2004 as a sustainable, not-for-profit infrastructure supporting non-commercial multinational clinical research projects in Europe, striving for harmonisation of European clinical research.
The Network is based on the connection of national coordinating ECRIN partners (networks of Clinical Research Centres or Clinical Trials Units). It supports, services, coordinates, and manages high-quality, independent, and fully transparent multinational clinical research and synergizes the capacities and capabilities of national clinical research.
The ECRIN-IA (Integrating Activity) project (2012-2015) is the fourth step of the ECRIN programme, funded by the FP7 Infrastructure Unit. The focus is set on further structuring and expanding the network, particularly through expansion and capacity building, and through the structuring of users’ communities in the field of rare diseases, medical devices and nutrition.
The KKS- MUW project group is beyond its role as national coordinating partner strongly involved in the ECRIN working package „Education, e-services and communication“: The know-how already accumulated during the previous ECRIN steps and gathered from other working packages is constantly being transposed into a repository for e-services and into education material that will be used to develop courses for investigators, clinical research professionals, and patients associations in the national context.
