The Medicine degree programme at MedUni Vienna lasts 12 semesters and a total of 241 contact hours.
A large part of the hours is devoted to required subjects and a much smaller one to electives. Within the required subjects a large part is in turn reserved for clinical training and compulsory optional subjects. In the course of the programme 12 weeks of clerkship and the clinical internship of 48 weeks have to be successfully completed.
The programme is divided into 3 phases; the 1st phase lasts for two semesters, the 2nd phase six semesters and the 3rd phase four semesters.
The classes in the first and second phase are divided into so-called thematic blocks. The blocks are accompanied by "lines", that is training or seminars in small groups, with the aim of establishing a connection with the clinical courses.
The curriculum is structured in such a way that only a start of studies in the winter ensures that the mandatory courses are ideally coordinated.

In KPJ students of human medicine of the 6. year operate as a learning team members to the departments of the university clinics of the Medical University of Vienna and the accredited teaching hospitals. They are accompanied by mentors in their intensive, clinical instruction.
