The Medical University of Vienna is located right at the heart of the ninth district of Vienna. The university buildings are within close reach from each other. There are several entrances along the Lazarett-, Spital- and Währinger Straße that you can use to access our campus.

Arrival by bike at MedUni Vienna
The city of Vienna offers its own bikecycle route planer that you can use to travel to MedUni Vienna by bike. There are bike parking facilities next to all of our buildings. If you have forgotten one day your saddle proctor and it starts raining, visit our MedUni Shop to buy one.
Arrival by car at MedUni Vienna
All of our university buildings are very centrally located and parking fees must be paid when parking on the public road from 09am-10pm. To avoid a fine, you will need to purchase parking tickets in advance. You can purchase them at any tabaco store or underground ticket vending maschine. Apart from the struggles to find a parking space, it can become quiet costintensively to park in the city. Thus, we recommend to our visitors to take advantage of one of the many Park-and-Ride facilities offered by the city of Vienna and switch from there to public transportation. The closest Park-and-Ride station to our campus is Spittelau. The station directly connects you to the underground line U6 (brown line on the underground map) and underground line U4 (green line on the underground map) . The transfer from the airport to MedUni Vienna will take about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes by public transport. Depending on the address you wish to get to, the route might be different. Here you will find the best connections by public transport to all our campus buildings.
Spitalgasse 23 (Rectorate office, Main Building),
Spitalgasse 4 (Center for Brain Research)
The buildings are 10 minuites walk apart.
At the airport take the local train S7 or an ÖBB train in the direction of Wolfsthal and get off at the Praterstern station. Leave the plattform and follow the tram signs. Tram 5 (direction Westbahnhof) will bring you right to our front door steps, please get off at the station Lazarettgasse, where you will find one of the main entrances to the MedUni Campus. If you want to go to Spitalgasse 4, please continue on the tram for one more station and get off at station Langegasse.
Sensengasse 2 (Center for Forensic Medicine)
At the airport take the local train S7 or an ÖBB train in the direction of Wolfsthal and get off at the Praterstern station. Leave the plattform and follow the tram signs. Take tram number 5 in the direction Westbahnhof and get off at Lazarettgasse station. The building is located exactly on the corner of Sensengasse and Spitalgasse.
Lazarettgasse 14 (Institute of Immunology)
At the airport take an ÖBB train to the central train station. Get off there and follow the bus signs ( bus station is next to the main exit). Take the bus line 13A to the last stop -Skodagasse, there walk towards the main road called Alserstrasse, cross it and head in the direction of the supermarket Spar, which is located at the corner of Alserstrasse and Pelikangasse. Turn right into Pelikangasse, which leads you to Lazarettgasse (2nd street). The building is at the corner of Pelikangasse and Lazarettgasse.
Währinger Gürtel 18-20 (MedUni Campus, AKH, Research Building Anna Spiegel, Cemm, Lecture center, University Library, Center for Cancer Research)
From the airport take the local train S7 (direction Wolfsthal) to Handelskai or an ÖBB train that stops at Meidling station. Both stations are connected to the underground line U6 (brown line on the underground map), please change to the U6 here
- from Meidling in the direction of Floridsdorf
- from the Handelskai towards Siebenhirten
and get off at the station Michelbeuern-AKH. The underground station is directly connected to the main building of the general hospital.
Kinderspitalgasse 6 (Public Health, Virology, Pathophysiology, Infections und Immunology),
Kinderspitalgasse 15 (St. Anna childrens hospital)
The buildings are 5 minuites walk apart.
From the airport take the local train S7 (direction Wolfsthal) to Handelskai or any ÖBB train that stops at Meidling station. Both stations are connected to the underground line U6 (brown line on the underground map), please change to the U6 here

- from the Handelskai towards Siebenhirten
and get off at station Alser Straße. Walk downstairs and follow the exit Kinderspitalgasse / Lazarettgasse. When leaving the underground building you can see on your right across the road the white institute building on the Hernalsergürtel. The building is located right at the corner of Hernalsergrürtel and Kinderspitalgasse. Just across from McDonalds. The children's hospital is a further 5 minutes' walk down Kinderspitalgasse. The building is on your left when arriving from Hernalser Gürtel.
Währinger Strasse 10 (Medical Chemestry, Pathobiochemestry),
Währinger Straße 13a (Pharmacology, Physiology, Anatomy, Cellbiology, Histology, Embryolgy),
Währinger Straße 25a (Van Swieten Saal, Student Service Office, Dental clinik, KKS, Artificial Intelligence, Josephinum)
The different buildings are 10 minuites walks apart.
From the airport take the local train S7 or any ÖBB train in the direction of Wolfsthal and get off at the Praterstern station. Leave the plattorm and follow the underground signs. Take the underground line U2 (purple color on the underground map) in the direction of Karlsplatz and get off at Schottentor station. If you take the escalators to the exit the underground, you will pass by a tram rondo, where you can take the tram 42 or 40 for one stop to Schwarzspanierstrasse. The building Währingerstraße 13a is located right at the corner of Schwarzspanierstrasse and Währinger Straße For building 10, please walk down Währinger Straße (towards Schottentor) for approx 5 minuites. For the locations at Währinger Straße 25a, please start walking in the direction out of town, by leaving the Schottentor further behind you for about 5 minutes until you see the Josephinum. The entrances are just next door.

continuing by cab
Depending on the traffic situation, it will take you 30-40 minutes by taxi to get any location of MedUni Vienna. We recommend that you book a cab service prior to your arrival in Vienna. We kindly ask for your understanding that we can´t recommend any cab company services in particular, since our researcher use public transport whenever possible.

ShareNow is a car sharing company that provides its fleet at Vienna Schwechat Airport. Please consult their website to find more information on their fares and conditions.
Upon arrival, you can pick up your reserved SharNow car at the the car park P3 on deck 0 or park your car there when departing from Vienna airport.
