Research interests

The main interests of my research group spread from changes in extracellular matrix organisation of inflammatory skin diseases to microbial homeostasis on healthy and pathological skin. We are focusing on determining the differences of the extracellular matrix and cytoskeleton of epidermal and dermal cells in chronic skin diseases like atopic dermatitis and psoriasis on a single cellular level. One of our research topics is also the penetration of aeroallergens through damaged skin lesions in patients with atopic dermatitis. One of our findings does focus on the microbiological systems of the skin bioflora including bacteria, fungi and bacteriophages. My special interest lies in the interaction between allergens and immune sentinels of the skin in vivo and in vitro.
