In 2016, the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) launched a two-stage call on ‘Precision Medicine’ with a volume of roughly 5 million euros.

The POLIMORPH project finished among the top five funded projects and was funded with € 880,000. The appellation, POLIMORPH, (http://www.meduniwien.ac.at/nephrogene/wwtf/) stands for ‘Prolongation of kidney transplant survival through risk stratification of omics-wide incompatibilities using systems biology - a personalised medicine approach ’ and was designed to elucidate the effects of genome-wide incompatibilities between transplant kidney donors and recipients. The alloimmune response will be mapped with various omics technologies supported by thorough bioinformatics and experimental POC studies. This endeavour will synergistically be carried out by the three partnering institutions, the MedUni Vienna, CeMM and AIT.

This kick-off meeting is intended to present the people who drive this exciting project and their project-
specific expertise. After the short presentation, there will be enough time to engage in discussion and also to exchange ideas with a view to strengthening life science research in Vienna.
