SUMMARY:MIC Lecture: Human-computer collaboration for image based decision
 support - Termin abgesagt

DESCRIPTION:Termin abgesagt - Die Veranstaltung findet nicht statt.\n\nHuma
n-computer collaboration for image based decision support\n\nHarald Kittle
r\nDepartment of Dermatology\, Medical University of Vienna\n\nAlthough ar
tificial intelligence (AI) driven diagnostic software reached expert level
accuracies in many studies of image-based medical specialties\, it is sti
ll unclear if these achievements translate to an improved clinical practic
 e. Recent advances in image based skin cancer diagnosis shed more light on
the underexplored field of human-computer collaboration in diagnostic med
icine.\n\nThe accuracy of human raters does not improve with all types of
AI-based decision support. In order to be useful to human raters\, decisio
n support should be simple\, concrete\, and in accordance with the given t
ask. In contrast to the current narrative the primary focus should shift f
 rom human-computer-competition to human-computer- and crowd-computer-colla
boration.\n\nBio-Sketch: Harald Kittler\nHarald Kittleris an Ao. Professor
at the Department of Dermatology\, Medical University of Vienna. He leads
a research team with a specific focus on in vivo skin imaging and machine
learning. He has a clinical interest in skin cancer diagnosis\, dermatosc
opy\, and dermatopathology. Kittler has been working for more than 20 year
s in the field of in vivo skin imaging and has published a number of scien
tific articles especially in computer assisted diagnosis of skin cancer.\n
\n» Medical Imaging Cluster (MIC)\n\nThis event will be approved by the A
ustrian Medical Chamber with 1 DFP-Point.\n\nTermin abgesagt - Die Veranst
 altung findet nicht statt.
