(Vienna, 10 April 2024) The Medical University of Vienna has made a leap forward in the "Medicine" category of the recently published, renowned "QS World University Ranking by Subject". Austria's largest medical university improved by eight places compared to the previous year and is now ranked 60th.
This puts MedUni Vienna ahead of Mayo Medical School (71st) and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin (79th). After MedUni Vienna, the best universities in Austria were the Medical Universities of Graz (201-250th) and Innsbruck (251st-300th). This year's medical ranking comprises a total of 1,398 institutions.
In the "Dentistry" category, which was included for the first time, MedUni Vienna is in 51st to 100th place, with a total of 491 institutions ranked.
In the broader "Life Sciences and Medicine" category, MedUni Vienna was also once again ranked in the top 100 in 98th place (2023: 105).
The QS ranking is based on citation frequency and a survey of over 130,000 academics and 75,000 employers worldwide on the academic reputation and employability of graduates. In medicine, the "international research network" of the universities is also taken into account, based on regular co-publications with international partners. A total of 55 special categories are evaluated.
Harvard University comes top in the subject "Medicine", ahead of the University of Oxford and Stanford University.
