Biochemical properties

The troponin complex regulates Ca2+ induced muscle contraction. It consists of three subunits: Ca2+ binding (troponin C), inhibitory (troponin I), and tropomyosin binding (troponin T). Troponin I and T are evolutionary related while troponin C belongs to the EF hand family (AllFam:AF007) [1].

Allergens from this family

Pol l 7, a crayfish troponin I, was identified as a minor allergen.
