Biochemical properties

All known carboxypeptidases are either metallo carboxypeptidases or serine carboxypeptidases. The serine carboxypeptidases belong to the MEROPS family S10 and to the α/β-hydrolase superfamily [1]. (clan SC).

Allergens from this family

15% of honeybee sensitized patients had IgE to Api m 9, a carboxypeptidase from bee venom.
