AF212: GASA/snakin family

List allergens from this family:

Include only IUIS approved allergens.

Biochemical properties

This family contains plant proteins whose expression is up-regulated by the plant hormone gibberellin. Most of these proteins have some role in plant hormone crosstalk, development, redox homeostasis and defense. Their sequences contain 12 conserved cysteines which form 6 disulfide bonds [1, 2].

Allergens from this family

Pru p 7 (also named peamaclein) is a highly thermostable allergen from peach, which is capable of eliciting severe allergic reactions [3, 4]. An allergenic member of this family was also identified in orange and named Cit s 7.
